The Thomayer Hospital, a major teaching hospital, is located in Prague's Krč, on the edge of the Kunratice Forest and by the Kunratice Stream. This functionalist building, built in 1928 on the Budějovická (now Vienna) road, bears the name of the founder of Czech medical science, Professor Josef Thomayer. The hospital admits 50,000 patients a year and has approximately 1,600 beds with almost the same number of employees, of which approximately 1,100 are medical staff.
