The Troja footbridge, connecting Prague's Troja with Císařský ostrov, is an important pedestrian route for Prague residents and tourists. The footbridge provides convenient access to recreational destinations such as the Troja Castle, the Royal Game Preserve, the zoological and botanical gardens. In the past, there was a ferry and various temporary bridge constructions on the site of the footbridge. A lightweight concrete footbridge was built in 1984, which unexpectedly collapsed in 2017. After a brief period with the ferry, a new, modern steel footbridge was opened in 2020.
