The Castle Steps, unofficially the New Castle Steps, are a picturesque pedestrian route leading from the Lesser Town to Hradčanské Square. This street, which separates the two historic districts of Prague, has a rich history. Already in the 13th century there was a steep path here, which later turned into stairs. Its current form dates back to the 17th century and was modified by the architect Plečnik. In the 1970s, the stairs underwent their last reconstruction. Source: Prague City Tourism
