Church of St. Adalbert

Kostel svatého Vojtěcha

As late as 1871, the church dedicated to St. Adalbert stood in the middle of the cemetery, in a picturesque group with a rectory, tower and belfry, enclosed by a wall with three entrances. Today, the buildings are separated by a street - the former cemetery is commemorated with a cross, the tombstones in the wall of the rectory and crosses in the pavement pattern. The originally Romanesque church of St. Adalbert underwent a Gothic reconstruction at the end of the 14th century. Extensive Baroque conversions (1690-1695 and 1745) and a partial restoration of the Gothic style in the 19th century significantly changed its internal and external appearance. A. Dvořák and J. B. Foerster served as organists in the church.
