In medieval times, Klánovice Forest, then known as Vidrholec, was a dark woodland traversed by the important Imperial Road from Prague to Moravia. Today, it is a popular natural retreat and the largest continuous forest area within Prague. It is located on its eastern edge, within the city districts of Horní Počernice, Újezd nad Lesy and Klánovice and the municipalities of Úvaly, Šestajovice and Jirny. It covers a total area of 1,030 hectares. Several marked hiking trails and two cycling paths wind through the forest. Equally fascinating is the 12.5-kilometre educational trail with 17 stops, which begins at the Praha-Klánovice railway station. Source: klanovickyles.cz
