The Hagibor site is significantly linked to the history of the Jewish community in Prague. The name originates from the word Hagibor, which means hero in Hebrew. Since its establishment in 1911, social care for the needy has been provided in the building. In the 1920s, a Jewish sports club was founded here. Hagibor was one of the last places which Jews were allowed to devote at least in part to cultural or sporting activities in Prague during the Protectorate. However, this place also served as an internment camp for Jews from mixed marriages. After the war, the building became part of the Vinohrady hospital. The Prague Jewish community regained the site in restitution and after reconstruction in 2008, it opened the Hagibor Social Care Home.
