This small wooden Orthodox church with a shingled roof, situated in the Kinský Gardens, is a typical folk wooden log building from Subcarpathian Russia of the 18th century, today Zakarpatí in Ukraine. It was moved to Prague from Medvedovce near Mukachevo, to where it was moved from Velké Lúčky in 1793, and was built again in Prague in 1929. The church is part of the collection of the Ethnographic Museum.

The Church of St. Michael is a Boyko-style church. (This architectural style is named after the Boykos, a Ukrainian ethnic group residing on the borders of north-eastern Slovakia, south-eastern Poland and Subcarpathian Ruthenia, which evolved from the Eastern tradition of central churches with a dome, moderately influenced by Western styles.) The church has three onion-domed towers, the tallest reaching 17 meters. It also features a wooden bell tower, though it is located separately below the Kinsky Summer Palace on the lookout plateau towards Holečkova Street.
Originally Greek Catholic, the church is now recognised as Orthodox following the historical merging of the Greek Catholic and Orthodox churches.

On 28 October 2020, a devastating fire damaged the church, which is currently undergoing restoration.
