The construction of a small Servite monastery with a church began on the green meadow in the spring of 1360 by order of Charles IV. To this day, the church with its square nave and pentagonal presbytery retains its pure 14th century Gothic appearance, although it has suffered considerable damage over the centuries. Perhaps that is why its slender tower is one of the most slanted in Prague — it deviates from the vertical by a full 63 cm. The church currently serves as the Church of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Mother of God to the Prague Orthodox Eparchy.
