The early Baroque chapel of St. Mary Magdalene near Čechův Most Bridge was built in 1635, and the famous Prague architect of Italian origin Giovanni Baptiste de Barrifis is often cited as its designer. It mainly served rafters and winemakers, as it stood on the land of a monastery vineyard belonging to the Order of the Canons Regular of the Penitence of the Blessed Martyrs, also known as Cyriacs. In 1956, however, due to landscaping works related to the completion of the Stalin monument, a unique intervention was carried out, moving the chapel almost 31 metres upstream along specially laid rails. The interior of the chapel features wall frescoes dating back to the chapel’s foundation and representing biblical plants, with particularly noteworthy ceiling stuccos.
